The Search for Everlasting Truth Isn't Worth It

There is far too much talk about what is true and false and the gradients that suddenly exist between the two. All that matters is whether it is reasonable and whether it not it benefits the most people. These are the better terms to think in because they require you to slow down.
So, when reading, consuming, etc…ask yourself a few things to remain sane, happy, and productive in a way that suits you:
- Does this matter to me? In other words, is this a thing I am interested in taking some action on beyond screaming into social media, group text, etc… If no, it is ok to not use your energy to obsesses over it. You should not feel guilty that you are not knowledgeable, donating to, working on, active in every single cause or effort. In fact, if you tend to contribute only to the most pressing causes of the day, evaluate whether that is right for you. The homeless always need help, cancer always needs curing, children always need feeding, etc… Make one your cause. If you do that, you will learn more about it, connect more with it, feel more engaged with it and make a larger impact that you would by trying to figure out how to help every cause.
- Does this sound reasonable to you? Not does this sound good, or you want to believe that’s its reasonable, but does this make sense in the current reality? Is it plausible?
- In my honest assessment, is this idea something that would be for the benefit of ALL society? Few things are actually the best thing for everyone, but is what is in question the best option that you can think of that will improve life for the most people?
Now does this mean you shouldn’t support Ukrainians during wartime or the animal shelter’s annual fundraiser? Of course not, but it's ok if you don’t. Do what you can do well and engage in it. Do what serves you and others best, but you need not feel guilt or shame for not doing everything.
